Funeral services for Joy Elizabeth Courtney Hickey, 55, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Pine Level Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Will Cook will officiate. Private family interment will be in Capel Baptist Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Ms. Hickey passed away at Grady General Hospital in Cairo, GA, on Friday, July 3, 2026.

Active pallbearers will be Garrison Courtney, Parker Courtney, Isaac Addison, Austin Asbell, Palmer Todd Harrell and Noah Cooper. Honorary pallbearers will be team members of the Dental Associates of Southwest Georgia.

Joy was a devoted member of the praise team, where her love for worship and her faith in God shone brightly. She had a servant’s heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand, often putting others before herself without hesitation. Joy was deeply faithful-to her family, her friends, and her Lord— and her kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Her life was a beautiful reflection of her faith, and she will be remembered for the love and light she so freely gave to others.

Ms. Hickey was born on April 16, 1971, in Adel, GA, to the late Maneus Fredrick Courtney and Sarah Stewart Courtney. She was dental assistant with Dental Associates of Southwest Georgia here in Cairo. She was a devoted member of Pine Level Baptist Church and a member of the Praise Team.

Survivors include: her children, Courtney Morrison of Ochlocknee, GA, Brock Morrison of Ochlocknee, GA, Judson Hickey (Kayla) of Whigham, GA; grandchildren, JosieJane Ruth Hickey of Whigham, GA, Delilah Opal Hickey of Whigham, GA; brother, Art Courtney (Christie) of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maneus and Sarah Courtney.

Memorials may be made in Ms. Hickey’s memory to the American Heart Association.

The family will receive friends at Pine Level Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
