John Newton Lovett

Funeral services for John Newton Lovett, 94, of Ochlocknee, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2026, at Barnetts Creek Baptist Church, Ochlocknee, GA. Dr. Virgil Lovett, Rev. Louie Eleazer and Rev. Sam Easom will officiate. Military honors will be presented at the church. Services will conclude in the church. Private interment will be in Barnetts Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Ochlocknee, GA. Mr. Lovett passed away at his home on Monday, July 6, 2026.
Mr. Lovett was born on January 28, 1932, in Faceville, GA, to the late Luther Louis Lovett and Gladys Blair Lovett. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as an assistant to the Military Chaplin. On January 8, 1954, he married Martha Kinchen Lovett, who preceded him in death on September 28, 2025. They have been married for over 71 years. John was a member of the Lovett Brothers Quartet. He was a retired insurance agent that worked with Life of Georgia and American General Life Insurance Company. He was a member of Barnetts Creek Baptist Church in Ochlocknee.
Survivors include: children, John L. “J.L.” Lovett (Myra), Linda L. Lashley (James), Doug H. Lovett (Karen), all of Ochlocknee, GA; grandchildren, Lindsay Marie Dollar of Cairo, GA, Tracey Howard of Gainesville, GA, Rhonda Lynn Eschete of Gainesville, GA, Heather Lynn Lashley of San Diego, CA, Brent Smith (Megan) of Camilla, GA, Amanda Lovett of Camilla, GA, Heather Lovett of Ochlocknee, GA; Elaina Lovett of Cairo, GA, Cameron Bearden of Ruskin, FL, Scott Bearden of Ochlocknee, GA; greatgrandchildren, Karsen, Kendall, Gracelynn, Addie, Harrison, Cabry Lane, Hayden, Chelsea, Jacob, Billy, Sherry, Kristen, Adaleine, Grayson, Leila, Landon; great-greatgrandchild, Oaklynn; brother, Dr. Virgil Lovett (Diane) of Mount Dora, FL; sister-in-law, Beverly Lovett of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Luther and Gladys Lovett; his wife, Martha K. Lovett; granddaughter, Tori Lynn Lovett; and siblings, Wendell Lovett, James Lovett and Edna Eleazer.
The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to the members of the Archbold Hospice Staff for the excellent care, support and love given to Mr. Lovett—and the loving care by nurse, Debbie Cox Cooper.
