Funeral services for Nina Cassels Gainous, 86, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 7, 2026, at the Cairo Church of the Nazarene, Cairo, GA. Rev. Todd Gainous will officiate. Services will conclude at the church. Private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mrs. Gainous passed away at home on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Mrs. Gainous was born on July 5, 1940, in Cairo, GA, to the late David Carson Cassels and Eunice Reynolds Cassels Bennett. On December 21, 1957, she married Jimmy “Bud” Gainous, who preceded her in death on August 5, 1992. They were married for 34 years. She retired as quality control manager at Warners in Thomasville. She was a devoted member of the Cairo Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include: her children, Lori Thompson (Mack), Scott Gainous (Connie), David Gainous (Lynn), Todd Gainous (Donna), all of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Lance Gainous (Brandi) of Cairo, GA, Bryan Gainous (Krystal) of Cairo, GA, Trey Gainous (Allie) of Whigham, GA, Tommy Gainous (Amanda) of Cairo, GA, William Hurst (Lesley) of Cairo, GA, Michael Friend (Whitney) of Cairo, GA, Blake Thompson of Cairo, GA, Samantha Gainous of Cairo, GA; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; grandchildren, Michael Todd Gainous, Jr., Ashley Friend, Jessica Hurst; and a sister, Marian C. Walker.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Gainous’ memory to: the Church of the Nazarene, 311 5th St NE, Cairo, GA 39828.

The family will receive friends at the Church of the Nazarene on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
