Funeral services for Dorothy Hancock Barrineau, 88, of Whigham, GA, are at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2025, at Providence Baptist Church, Whigham, GA. Pastor Johnny H. Moore and Rev. Doug Halstead will officiate. Interment will be in Providence Community Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mrs. Barrineau passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
Active pallbearers will be Clint Mathers, Scott Barrineau, Jaybe Bowers, Dustin Fain, Gary Lewis and Brent Wilson.
Mrs. Barrineau was born on February 15, 1937, in Miccosukee, FL, to the late Homer Roy Hancock and Rosa Miller Hancock. She was married to Wendell Barrineau for 70 years. She was employed as a secretary and bookkeeper with the Whigham School until her retirement. She was a devoted member of Providence Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her husband, Wendell Barrineau of Whigham, GA; children, Karen Rowland (Franz) of Boston, GA, Robin Rogers (Jeffrey) of Whigham, GA, Lynn Takach (Levy) of Whigham, GA; grandchildren, Brooke Barrineau of Louisiana, Michelle Wilson (Brent) of Tallahassee, FL, Miranda McMillan of Bainbridge, GA, Clint Mathers (Mariah) of Cairo, GA, Jessi Bowers (Jaybe) of Meigs, GA, Scott Barrineau of Whigham, GA, Leann Williamson (Stacy) of Cairo, GA, Nichole Rogers of Cairo, GA, Whitney Lewis (Gary) of Whigham, GA, Chloe Rogers of Whigham, GA, Dustin Fain of Whigham, GA, Tyler Fain of Whigham, GA, Kolby Fain of Whigham, GA; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Beth Hancock of Cairo, GA, Jackie Hancock of Tallahassee, FL, Joyce McDaniel (Junior) of Cairo, GA, Marilyn Jones (Randall) of Climax, GA, Carolyn Lee (Billy) of Whigham, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; sons, Tony Barrineau, Andy Barrineau; brothers, Roy Hancock, Dee Hancock, Bobby Hancock; and sisters, Kathy Scott, Janice Mobley.
