Mr. Hash was born on October 4,1933, in Madison, Indiana, to the late Leonard Vincent Hash and Margaret Muster Hash. He served his country in the U.S. Army and Navy. On December 24, 1971, he married Kay Pritchett Hash. They were married for almost 55 years. He was a devoted member of El Bethel Baptist Church in Whigham.

Most importantly, Joe became a Man of God on June 29, 1997. He was a husband, best friend, and father to our family. Shortly after he retired from the military, he was hired at Seaboard Coast Line Railroad. Later, he transferred to Amtrack as an engineer. His biggest regret was retiring from Amtrack, the job he loved.

After retirement, he drove a school bus for a few years and worked on his farm which was north of Whigham. Later, he and Kay sold the farm and traveled in their motorhome, seeing most of the United States. Joe was a wonderful husband and father. He was a stern man as a father but was also a giving man. He never brought up wrongdoings from the past; he forgave and loved easily. He was a true blessing to his wife, children, and was a great granddad. His heart was BIG, and he LOVED BIG. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include: his wife, Kay P. Hash of Whigham, GA; his children, Becky Huffman (Gary) of Norfolk, VA, Susan Di Benedetto (Joseph) of DeBary, FL; grandchildren, Meagan C.
