Dr. Thomas James “Tommy” Pharis
September 22, 1951 – August 10, 2026

Dr. Thomas James “Tommy” Pharis, 74, of Thomasville, GA, passed away at Legacy Village at Plantation Manor in Thomasville, GA, on Monday, August 10, 2026. Interment will be in Cairo Cemetery. The family will have a memorial service at a later date.
Mr. Pharis was born on September 22, 1951, in Cairo, GA, to the late Thomas Jordan Pharis and Mary Alma Rozar Pharis. On January 14, 1984, he married Victoria Zieres Pharis. They have been married for 42 years. He was a former school superintendent for the Grady County Borad of Education and a professional educator. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include: his wife, Victoria Z. “Vicky” Pharis of Thomasville, GA; children, Timothy James Pharis (Marion) of Flag Pond, TN, Christopher Roy Pharis (Laura) of Ft. Hood, TX, Amelia Fei Pharis of Laramie, WY; grandchildren, Everett Groeneveld, Wyatt Groeneveld, Lily Pharis, Rose Mary Pharis, Gabriel Pharis, Reece Pharis, James Groeneveld, Ellee Groeneveld, Autumn Pharis, and Forest Pharis; and a sister, Vonda Van Brunt of Cairo, GA.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Thomas and Mary Pharis; his son, Leonard Alexander “Alex” Groeneveld; and sisters, Lucile P. Day and Wyolene P. Fain.
