Stephen Rudolph “Steve” Maxwell

Funeral services for Stephen Rudolph “Steve” Maxwell, 70, of Dothan, AL, are at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Ron McCaskill will officiate. Services will conclude at the chapel. Private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Maxwell passed away at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, on Friday, May 24, 2019.

Mr. Maxwell was born on February 21, 1949, in Cairo, GA, to the late C. Rudolph Maxwell and Winifred Perkins Maxwell, who survives. In 1967, he graduated from Cairo High School. He played basketball and graduated from Norman Park College and also graduated from Georgia Southwestern with a degree in Physical Education. He was the Recreation Director for Grady County and he later went on to teach and coach in Georgia, Florida and Alabama. In 1974, he married Donna Cutchens Maxwell, who survives. He loved music, going fishing and working with kids. He loved his family.

Survivors include: his wife, Donna Cutchens Maxwell of Dothan, AL; son, Jason Maxwell (Paula) of Bonaire, GA; daughter, Stephanie Fenner (Geoffrey) of Gaithersburg, MD; grandchildren, Hannah Maxwell, Caroline Maxwell, Jake Maxwell, Ryan Maxwell, all of Bonaire, GA, Lillian Fenner, Wesley Fenner, both of Gaithersburg, MD; sister, Elaine Womble (Buck) of Tallahassee, FL; nephew, Stan Womble (Lauren) of Tallahassee, FL; brother-in-law, Mike Cutchens of Whigham, GA; niece, Kelly Pierson of Tallahassee, FL; and a host of numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his father.

Memorials may be made in Mr. Maxwell’s memory to: First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 1538, Cairo, GA 39828.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
