Margaret was born on May 30, 1934, in Cairo, Georgia to the late Rev. L.Z. and Una Mae Crew Widener. On September 13, 1953, she married Bobby Long who preceded her in death on May 17, 2001. They were married for 48 years. She was a graduate of Cairo High School Class of 1952 and attended Norman College. Margaret retired from Grady County Schools as a paraprofessional after 34 years of service. She was a devoted member of Eastside Baptist Church where she faithfully shared her piano and organ talent with the congregation and community for over 50 years. She loved the Lord. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, and spending time with her family. She was especially talented as the “official” cake baker and decorator for all of her grandchildren’s birthday cakes. Annual beach trips with “her girls” was an event she enjoyed and most everyone knows about her “Tweety Bird” shirt she wore for the occasion.
