Larry E. Bishop
August 5, 1948 – December 24, 2020

Larry Edward Bishop, 72, of Anderson, SC, devoted and dedicated husband to Lynn Jeremias Bishop for 50 years, was welcomed to his new and healed body on Dec. 24, 2020, in his loving wife’s embrace at his home, with his children holding his hand.

He was born in Cairo, GA on August 5, 1948, to Rosa and the late Lester Bishop, Sr.  Larry graduated from Cairo High School and was involved in many clubs and sports. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Navy and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War aboard the Carrier USS Enterprise with four years of active duty, and two years in the reserves in Tallahassee, FL.  He was a graduate of Bainbridge Junior College and Valdosta State University earning his bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.  He began his career in Bearing Manufactory and the very first employee hired at Torrington Bearing in Cairo, GA (Ingersoll Rand, Timken, Koyo, Jtek).  He worked for over 38 years and through those years the company has taken him and is family to different States in the US and abroad.  (Cairo, GA, Rutherfordton, NC, Calhoun, GA, Pulaski, TN, Czech Republic, Benoni RSA, Honea Path, SC.)   He was transferred back to Cairo GA, as plant manager where, he later retired.

Larry enjoyed playing golf, wood working, carpentry, sudoku, and being near the ocean or by the pool.  He loved a variety of music and always wanting to dance to his favorite songs.  His love for travel adventure took him and his wife (some with family) to places around the world that some can only dream about.  His love for sports and children motivated him to selflessly volunteer his spare time to coach little league football, basketball, and baseball, both in Cairo, GA, and Rutherfordton, NC.  His life was full of fun and adventure and left his family and friends many loving fun memories.

He is survived by Loving family that he was blessed and who he loved dearly: a wife, Lynn Bishop of Anderson, SC; mother, Rosa Bishop of Cairo, GA; daughter, Llarie Bishop Michael of Rutherfordton, NC; son, Lougan Edward Bishop (Maren) of Madison TN; grandchildren that he was proud off and stole Pappy’s heart, Jonathan Steele Michael (Emily) of Rutherfordton, NC, Savannah Hunter Michael of Cary, NC, Simon Edward Bishop of Madison, TN; brothers, Lester Bishop (Vivian) and Charles Bishop (Rhonda), both of Cairo, GA; and many nieces and nephews, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws that circle the globe.

In addition to his father, Lester Bishop, Sr., he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Federico and Agnes Jeremias of the Philippines.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the home of Lester and Vivian Bishop, 7738 GA Highway 111 South, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Robert Crapps will officiate.

We extend our appreciation to his doctors that traveled his journey: Dr. Kadis, Dr. Saunders, Dr. Simmons and Dr. Ashley Register, and to his many devoted and caring nurses and therapists from SC Home Health Care and Agapi Hospice.
