Frederick William Montague
December 20, 1938 – May 30, 2016

Funeral services for Frederick William Montague, 77, of Warner Robins, GA, are at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2016, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Mike Keown of Coolidge Baptist Church will be officiating. Services will conclude at the Chapel. Private interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Montague passed away in Warner Robins, GA, on Monday, May 30, 2016.

Mr. Montague was born on December 20, 1938, in Los Angeles, CA, to the late Paul J. Montague and Goldie Fergason Montague. After completing school, he enlisted and served our country in the U.S. Army. He never passed a flag without saluting “Old Glory.” After his military service he made his career in the transportation industry as a truck driver. He was a member of the Western Teamsters Union. He married Ruth Ann Ballinger, Bullhead City, AZ on October 1, 1994. After retiring he and his wife relocated to Fort Mitchell, AL. He and his wife would spend time traveling around the country and visiting different casinos after retirement. He cared for his wife during her illness, and did not leave side until her death November 10, 2010.

After the death of his wife, Ruth, Mr. Montague moved to Warner Robins to be near his nephew and niece, Jim and Rhonda Ballinger, and their children Nicholas and Sophia Ballinger. The staff at MBS addresses Mr. Montague as “Uncle Fred”, a term of endearment that always brought a smile to his face. Mr. Montague enjoyed his 7 AM breakfast with his friends that he met at McDonald’s shortly after moving to Warner Robins. His hobbies involved bowling, pool player, electronic poker and reading westerns.

Mr. Montague is survived by: his son, Michael Lee Montague of Benicia, CA; his 2 sisters, Edith “Edie” Biedron of Diamond Bar, CA, Mildred “Millie” Tate of Lynwood, CA; his brother-in-law, Frederick Riley Ballinger (Tsuru) of Cynthiana, KY; his half sister-in-law, Vicki Vise of Hallandale Beach, FL; nephew and niece, Jim and Rhonda Ballinger of Warner Robins, GA; great-nephew, Nicholas Chase Ballinger, great-niece Sophia Nicole Ballinger, both of Warner Robins, GA; and many other nieces and nephews in different parts of the country.

Mr. Montague was preceded in death by: his parents, Paul J. Montague and Goldie Fergason Montague London; step-father, Chester B. London; his beloved wife, Ruth Ann Ballinger Montague; and his brother, Gary Paul Montague.
