Carolyn Simmons McGee
August 10, 1935 – April 3, 2022

Funeral services for Carolyn Simmons McGee, 86, of Cairo, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA.  Pastor Travis Harrison will officiate.  Services will conclude at the chapel.   Private interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Mrs. McGee passed away at her home on Sunday, April 3, 2022.

Mrs. McGee was born on August 10, 1935, in Adel, GA, to the late Challie Ocy Simmons and Nina Bell Montgomery Simmons.  On June 23, 1951, she married Jack E. McGee, who preceded her in death on January 19, 2012.  She was a former substitute teacher for the Grady County Board of Education and former owner of a daycare for children.  She was a devoted member of the Cairo Assembly of God Church and served as the Women’s Ministries Director for the Southwest Georgia District in First Assembly for years.  Carolyn enjoyed being a fellowship leader and playing the piano in church.  Her Christian faith was very important to her, and she was a prayer warrior to many.  She loved spending time with her daughters and granddaughters each day.

Survivors include: her daughter, Cindy McGee Maxwell of Cairo, GA, grandchildren, Marie Maxwell Brinson (Ryan) of Cairo, GA, Ashley Maxwell of Cairo, GA, Artemis Des Rosiers of Colorado; sister, Jacklon Latrelle Simmons Cranford of Camilla, GA; brother-in-law, Ronald Hoffman of Toledo, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; daughter, Melissa Lynn McGee Baker; great-granddaughter, Olivia Kate Brinson; son-in-law, Roland Maxwell; brothers, Samuel William Simmons, Claude James Simmons; and sisters, Lafaye (Mickie) Hoffman, Maude Browning, Sarah Register, Kate Lassiter, Irma Thomas, Ethel Browning.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home immediately following the funeral service.
