William Palmer “Bill” Gainey
July 5, 1924 – August 28, 2017

Funeral services for William Palmer “Bill” Gainey, 93, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 1, 2017, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Ron McCaskill will officiate. Interment will be in Gainey Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Gainey passed away at Magnolia Place, Cairo, GA, on Monday, August 28, 2017.

Active pallbearers will be Ray Gainey, Lee Stoddard, Dale McCorkle, Bill McCorkle, Jimmie Hall and Agnew Smith.

Mr. Gainey was born on July 5, 1924, in Cairo, GA, to the late Wiley Williams Gainey and Ola Rehberg Gainey. He served his country in the United States Army. On October 27, 1946, he married, Doris McCorkle Gainey, who preceded him in death on November 8, 1999. He managed Mistletoe Plantation for many years before becoming a livestock broker. He was a member of the Cairo First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: son, Vic Gainey (Tricia) of Tallahassee, FL; daughter, Beth Burnam (Don) of Jennings, FL; grandchildren, Joe Burnam (Molly) of Cairo, GA, Liza Vargason (Corey) of Jennings, FL, Katy Yanossy (Matthew) of Live Oak, FL; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; and sisters, Alene Gainey, Ethel Hall.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, September 1, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
