Wendell Barrineau

Funeral services for Wendell Barrineau, 90, of Whigham, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Providence Baptist Church, Whigham, GA. Rev. Johnny H. Moore and Rev. Bryan Gainous will officiate. Interment will be in Providence Community Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mr. Barrineau passed away at his home on Friday, November 21, 2025.

Active pallbearers will be Clint Mathers, Steve Ulmer, Jaybe Bowers, Dustin Fain, Gary Lewis and Brent Wilson.

Mr. Barrineau was born on October 16, 1935, in Whigham, GA, to the late James William Barrineau and Myrtle Baggett Barrineau. He was married to Dorothy Hancock Barrineau, who preceded him in death on April 29, 2025. They were married for 70 years. He retired as a self-employed farmer. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Whigham.

Wendell was well-known as “Tomato Man” for the best tomatoes in Grady County. He could make the best pound cakes for the family and friends. He loved woodworking, fishing, hunting—and he even knew how to quilt using his mom’s quilt frame that was handed down to him.

Survivors include: children, Karen Rowland (Franz) of Boston, GA, Robin Rogers (Jeffrey) of Whigham, GA, Lynn Takach (Levy Sapp) of Whigham, GA; grandchildren, Brooke Barrineau of Louisiana, Michelle Wilson (Brent) of Tallahassee, FL, Miranda McMillan of Bainbridge, GA, Clint Mathers (Mariah) of Cairo, GA, Jessi Bowers (Jaybe) of Meigs, GA, Scott Barrineau of Whigham, GA, Leann Williamson (Stacy) of Cairo, GA, Nichole Rogers of Cairo, GA, Whitney Lewis (Gary) of Whigham, GA, Chloe Rogers of Whigham, GA, Dustin Fain of Whigham, GA, Tyler Fain of Whigham, GA, Kolby Fain of Whigham, GA; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn Jones (Randall) of Climax, GA, Carolyn Lee (Billy) of Whigham, GA; sisters-in-law, Beth Hancock of Cairo, GA, Jackie Hancock of Tallahassee, FL, Joyce McDaniel (Junior) of Cairo, GA;
and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, James and Myrtle Barrineau; his wife, Dorothy H. Barrineau; sons, Tony Barrineau, Andy Barrineau; and his brothers, J. W. Barrineau and Henry Barrineau.

The family will receive friends at Providence Baptist Church on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
