Funeral services for Teresa Martin Moye, 61, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Clark Funeral Home Chapel, Cairo, GA. Pastor Kyle Moye will officiate. Private family interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Ms. Moye passed away in Tallahassee, FL on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
Active pallbearers will be Cross Gilliland, Arnaldo Gonzalez, Jr., Sarah Creager, Charlie Creager, Randy Creager, Jackie Moye, and Kaitlyn Hughes
Ms. Moye was born on October 21, 1964, in Cairo, GA, to the late James Willard Martin and Mattie Mae Ivy.
Survivors include: her sons, Kyle Alan Moye (Jackie) of Cairo, GA; Cross Lee Gilliland (Kaitlyn) of Tallahassee, FL ; grandchildren, Elijah and Gabriel Moye both of Cairo, GA; sister, Tina Kilgore (Roger) of Cairo, GA; brothers, Johnny Rex Martin (Debra) of Cairo, GA and Earl Travis Martin (Teresa) of Milton FL, James Martin, Jr (Celia) of Roberta, GA; nieces Felisha Mitchell (Michael) of Cairo, GA, Sarah Martin Creager (Jack) of Pavo, GA, Heather Martin of North Dakota, Kim Hutchinson of Fitzgerald, GA, Katie Pugh of Roberta, GA, and Wendy McDaniels of Roberta, GA; nephews, James Martin and Matt Martin, and a host of extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Chase Gilliland; and nephew Robert Pearson.
In life, we are given rare opportunities to encounter people who genuinely know how to live in the moment. If you knew Teresa Rena, and were blessed enough to experience her love, you probably have a testimony of living in the moment with her. Her laughter filled every space, and her sense of humor could shift any atmosphere in a matter of seconds. She was unapologetically loyal to those she loved, and we were well aware of how she felt about us. There was never a need to wonder what she was thinking because she spoke it plainly without hesitation. Her children were a source of joy that was only closely matched by the sound of her grandsons calling her “Nonee.” The memories she made living in moments with us are too long to list, and attempting to put them into words feels like a disservice to the times we shared with her. She was beautiful, in fact, that too is an understatement. Aside from her love for her family and friends, she loved music, fishing, hot cups of coffee with just enough creamer and sugar, sunbathing for hours on the beach, cooking a good meal, and listening to whatever you needed to talk about. She had the ability to make you feel like the only person in the room when you needed it most. Because you knew her, you have been loved well. Her relationship with Jesus wasn’t something she hid either. She was quick to give God glory for the many things He’d done in her life. An extraordinary woman. That’s who Teresa Rena was, and today, if she could, she’d turn, tilt her head, toss her right hand in the air, and walk away saying, “And you better not forget it.” She taught us a lot. She loved us a lot, “with all of her heart.” We will always love her, too!
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
