Sue Nell White Massengale
July 28, 1931 – November 3, 2022  

Funeral services for Sue Nell White Massengale, 91, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 6, 2022, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Chris Allen will officiate.  Services will conclude at the chapel.  Private interment will be in the Cairo Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Mrs. Massengale passed away at her home on Thursday, November 3, 2022.

Active pallbearers will be her nephews.

Mrs. Massengale was born on July 28, 1931, in Cairo, GA, to the late Byron A. White and Mabel Lucas White.  Sue Nell graduated from Cairo High School, Valdosta State University and her graduate degree was obtained from Florida State University.  She taught school for over 39 years until her retirement.  On August 17, 1958, she married J. William “Bill” Massengale, who preceded her in death on December 10, 2006.  They were married for 48 years.  She was a member of the Cairo Woman’s Club, the Retired Educators Association and the Grady Historical Society.    Sue Nell was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Cairo and the Lydia Sunday School Class.  She was a giving and loving person that had so many friends.  Sue Nell was always thinking of ways to help others.

Survivors include: her sister-in-law, Dorothy Massengale of Senoia, GA; her cousins, Mary Hubert (David) of Atlanta, GA, Ed “Sonny” White of Bainbridge, GA; her nieces and a nephew: Nancy Tinsley (Bob) of Senoia, GA, Norman Massengale (Judy) of Manchester, GA, Neda McDonald of Carrollton, GA, Joanne Kennedy of Columbus, GA, Evelyn Patton of Lawrenceville, GA; 14 great nieces and nephews; and a great host of close friends that loved her.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; and a sister, Ann White.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home immediately following the memorial service.
