Funeral services for Robert Wayne Long, 83, of Cairo, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Eastside Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. David Harrell and Rev. Matt Vickers will officiate. Services will conclude in the church. Private interment will be in the Cairo Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Long passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA, on Thursday, October 23, 2025.

Pallbearers will be Greg Baggett, Dennis Long, Jimmy Long, Mike Griffin, Charlie Norton and Larry Brinkley.

Mr. Long was born on May 8, 1942, in Cairo, GA, to the late Claxton Long and Ruth Lewis Long. He served his country in the United States Navy. On August 26, 1965, he married Sarah Lou Norton Long, who preceded him in death on February 23, 2024. Robert began his career as a barber and later retired from the Torrington Bearings Company as a metallurgist lab tech. He was a member of the American Legion Post 122 and a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Cairo. He loved working in his garden.

Survivors include: son, John Long (Jill) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Josh Cook (Alex) of Bristol, FL, Lauren Mobley Vega (Christian) of Tallahassee, FL, Leigh Mobley (fiancé, Christian Lustre) of Nashville, TN, Lydia Mobley Green (Cory) of Whigham, GA, Jae Long of Cairo, GA; great-grandchildren, Charlie Cook, Cooper Cook, Harley Vega, William Green, Graham Vega; sister, Mabel York of Thomasville, GA; sister-in-law, Lula D. Long of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; daughter, Peggy Cook; his brothers, Edgar Long, Roy Long, James B. “Jimmy” Long; and his sisters, Mary L. Walker and Dora Bennett.

The family will receive friends at Eastside Baptist Church immediately following the service.
