Rebecca Hobbs
July 5, 1928 – May 22, 2026

Our dear, sweet, and loving mother, Rebecca Hobbs, returned to her Heavenly home today at the age of 97! She is now reunited with her beloved husband, her two children, her parents, and thirteen siblings who preceded her in death. Rebecca is survived by one dear sister.

Rebecca was truly one of the kindest souls to ever walk this earth. Her forgiving heart brought comfort and peace to countless people. She accepted everyone and made people feel loved, valued, and safe in her presence. She never met a stranger-everyone who knew her felt blessed to know her. She cherished family above all else and especially loved gathering everyone together for dinners in her home.

A woman of deep and unwavering faith, Rebecca allowed her love for God to guide every part of her life. She lived selflessly, always putting the needs of others before her own, and was a shining example of love, service, compassion, and devotion.

Rebecca married Milo Odell Hobbs in December 1952, and together they built a beautiful family with their seven children: Celene (Jon May), Milo (Nonie), DeLark, Xydell, Saadia (Kevin Rogers), Venus, and Shem. She was preceded in death by her children DeLark and Venus, and by her husband, Odell, who passed away in 2004.

Cottonwood Heights had been Rebecca’s home for most of her life. At age 93, she decided to leave the cold winters behind and moved to Georgia, where she spent the last four and a half years living with Celene and Jon.

Rebecca’s legacy continues through her 22 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by her love, wisdom, and example.

A Celebration of Life honoring Rebecca will be held in Utah, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park in Bluffdale, Utah.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the missionary fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in honor of Rebecca and her lifelong dedication to missionary service. Rebecca faithfully served full-time missions in Mexico at age 21, in Sacramento with Odell, and later in Guayaquil after Odell’s passing. She found deep joy in bringing others unto Christ and sharing her testimony of the Savior.
