Patsy Ruth Collinsworth Plant
November 17, 1944 – April 11, 2023

Funeral services for Patsy Ruth Collinsworth Plant, 78, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the Cairo Church of God, Cairo, GA.  Pastor DeWayne Atkinson will officiate.  Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery, DeFuniak Springs, FL, on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 12 Noon Central Time.  Mrs. Plant passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA, on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

Mrs. Plant was born on November 17, 1944, in Florala, AL, to the late Colon Wade Treadaway and Lucille Jackson Treadaway.  Patsy attended Florala City School and Covington High School, later named Florala High School in 1963.  She married William Alfred Collinsworth on July 27,1963.  In 1966, she attended Okaloosa Walton Junior College.  She was a charter member of the University of West Florida.  She later received her master’s degree from Troy State College.  With her marriage to Alfred, her two sons, William Michael and Ricky Duane were born.  She taught school at Maude Saunders Elementary School for 30 years.  After Alfred’s death in May of 1982, she married Joseph Earl Plant on April 16th, 1987.  They moved from DeFuniak Springs to Holt, FL.  After retirement, they moved to Whigham, Georgia in 2001.  Patsy was a member of the Muskogee Creek Indian Tribe.  She once served as chief of the Jackson Creek Clan.  She became a Christian at an early age and was a member of Cairo Church of God.  Joe and Patsy were part of the Maps Volunteers, a group that built churches.  Patsy loved to travel, especially out west and she loved to attend bluegrass music festivals.

Survivors include: her husband, Joe Plant of Cairo, GA; sons, Ricky Collinsworth (Christi) of Crestview, FL, Mark “Micky” Plant of Pace, FL; daughters, Lanatta Barrett (Mike) of Pace, FL, Starla Dangelo (Dan) of Milton, FL; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy Jordan (Henry) of Dothan, AL, Janice Jordan (Jimmy) of Florala, FL;  and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; first husband, Alfred Collinsworth; son, William Michael Collinsworth; and a sister, Sybil Wilson.

The family will receive friends at the Cairo Church of God immediately following the funeral service.
