Graveside funeral services for Nora Ruth Hurst, 83, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 29, 2017, in Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Rev. William Hurst, Jr. and Rev. Kenneth Green will officiate. Mrs. Hurst passed away at her home in Cairo, GA, on Thursday, October 26, 2017.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Mrs. Hurst was born on December 7, 1933, in Tallahassee, FL, to the late Norman Bennett Moore and Lillie Mae Poppell Moore. On March 1, 1953, she married Roger Henry Hurst, who preceded her in death on November 12, 1996. She was a member of the Pilot Club, Woodmen of the World, and the Senior Citizens Group. She retired from the Torrington Company as a machinist. Later, she was self-employed as a florist and taxidermist. She was a member of Moore’s Chapel in Climax, GA.
Survivors include: daughters, Glenda Glenn (David) of Ochlocknee, GA, Dena VanLandingham (Carey) of Cairo, GA, Derry Kitchens (John) of Harlem, GA; sons, William Bennett “Billy” Hurst, Sr. (Theresa) of Ochlocknee, GA, Ronald Hurst, Sr. of Whigham, GA; grandchildren, Lisa Lane (Jason) of Hoschton, GA, Michael Hayes (Bethany) of Thomasville, GA, David Glenn (Jennifer) of Garrettsville, OH, Ace Glenn (Jessica) of Pelham, GA, Alan Glenn of Ochlocknee, GA, Roddy VanLandingham of Cairo, GA, Susan Savage (Matt) of Cairo, GA, Ezra Kitchens, Noah Kitchens, both of Harlem, GA, William B. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; granddaughters, Caroline Kitchens, Jessica Hurst; daughter-in-law, Brenda Hurst; sister, Martha Julia Moore;
and brothers, John David Moore, Norman Bennett Moore, Mainor Alfred Moore.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Saturday, October 28, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
