Nelda Harrison Aycock

Funeral services for Nelda Harrison Aycock, 89, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Midway Baptist Church, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Larry Johnson will officiate.  Interment will be in Pine Level Church Cemetery.  Mrs. Aycock passed away at Magnolia Place in Cairo, GA, on Thursday, January 12, 2023.

Active pallbearers will be her nephews.  Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Midway Sunday School Class, and the Tama C.C. HG.

Mrs. Aycock was born on June 13, 1933, in Cairo, GA, to the late Bill Harrison and Maggie Missouri Mills. On April 11, 1952, she married Will Shepherd Aycock, who preceded her in death on May 19, 2008. Mrs. Nelda pursued her master’s degree in education along with a master’s degree in special education.  She served as an educator for over 40 years in multiple school systems. Mrs. Aycock was a member of Midway Baptist Church of Cairo, GA.

Survivors include: her daughter, Linda Aycock of Cairo, GA; son, Jonathan Aycock (Tonya) of Athens, AL; grandchildren, Henry Millsap (Jessica) of Cairo, GA, Rachel Sellers (Ronald) of Cairo, GA, Micayla Aycock (Marty) of Madison, AL, Jordan Aycock Athens, AL; great-grandchildren, Kaebrie, William, Ian, Nolen and Cole; and a host of nieces and nephews; brothers in-law, James O. Aycock (Joy) of N.C., LouZene Aycock of N.C.

She was preceded in death by:  parents; husband; brothers, Turner (Mavis), Hurshel (Annie Mae), Pye (Lois) and Alvin-Dwight Harrison; sisters, Desser Mckown (Jack), Verna Harrison, and Evelyn Ready (George).
