Marzine Roberts Hurst Cooper
June 27, 1932 – September 2, 2025

Marzine Roberts Hurst Cooper, a beloved mother, grandmother and great grand, entered the arms of her savior while surrounded by her loved ones and her family on September 2, 2025 at her home in Cairo, Georgia. She was born June 27, 1932 to the late Drew and Bunie Prince Roberts and raised in Hartsfield, Georgia until she relocated to Pelham, Georgia and then finally to Cairo, Georgia.
She is survived by her daughter Gloria Lowe (Roy) of Cairo; her daughter in law Betty Hurst of Pelham, Georgia; her grandchildren Lisa Hurst Austin (Petey) of Pelham, Georgia; Brandi Lowe of Cairo, Georgia; Krystal Lowe Gainous (Bryan) of Cairo, Georgia; Michael Hurst (Autumn) of Camilla, Georgia and Maria Batchelor (Simon) of Cairo, Georgia.
She is also survived by her great grandchildren Courtney Austin of Pelham, Georgia; Kayla Austin Burgess (Will) of Valdosta, Georgia; Tanner Davis of Cairo, Georgia; Maddie Rae Davis of Cairo, Georgia; Charlee Gainous of Cairo, Georgia; Hadlee Gainous of Cairo, Georgia; Brynlee Gainous of Cairo, Georgia; Logan Hurst of Camilla, Georgia; Preston Hurst of Camilla, Georgia; Easton Hurst of Camilla, Georgia; Logan Batchelor of Cairo, Georgia and Levi Batchelor of Cairo, Georgia.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Drew and Bunie Prince Roberts; her son William “Billy” Kendall Hurst; her son Leon “Wayne” Hurst; her son Michael “Mikie” Drew Hurst; her husband and father of her children Leon “Buddy” Woodrow Hurst; her husband Byron Thomas Cooper.
She was also proceeded in death by her brothers Dee Roberts; Homer Roberts; Willie Lee Roberts; Dallas Roberts, Frank Roberts; Howard Roberts; Herman Roberts; Cleveland Roberts; her sisters Nellie Pope; Bessie Mae Watts; Curtie Gay; Christine Simpson; Irene Murphy; and Juanita Hardy.
Marzine, a member of Providence Baptist Church, devoted over 50 years of her life as a seamtress but no role was more important to her than the role she filled as mother, wife and “granny”. She cared for her family with all of her heart and poured her selfless love and devotion into raising her children and serving as the matriarch for her entire family.
Funeral services to honor Marzine will be on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church in Whigham, Georgia. Pastor Bryan Gainous will officiate and intermittent will immediately follow at Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery where she will be laid to eternal rest by her late husband, Byron Cooper.
Active pallbearers will be Doyle Pumphrey, Steve Baggett, Heath Sanders, Ray Connell, Jimmy Griffin and Tim Jones.
The family will receive friends at Providence Baptist Church on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
