Lula Daughtry Long
October 1, 1924 – May 24, 2026

Lula Daughtry Long passed away May 24, 2026, at the age of 101. Funeral services are at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 29, 2026, at Eastside Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Steve Wooten and Rev. Matt Vickers will officiate. Services will conclude at the church. Private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA.
Pallbearers will be Scott Long, Kipp Collins, Harris Collins, Alex Collins, Ralph Daughtry, Anthony Brinson and Ted Long.
Mrs. Long was born in Whigham, GA on October 1, 1924, to the late Zack W. Daughtry and Isa Dora Sanders Daughtry and was a life-long resident of Grady County. She was the 12th of 13 children, all of whom preceded her in death. On March 4, 1945, she married James B. “Jimmy” Long and they were married for 79 years.
Mrs. Long was an active member of Eastside Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. She served on numerous committees at the church and was church secretary and treasurer for 29 years. She was also the church clerk for 45 years. Mrs. Long was a gifted quilter, and with her sisters and sisters-in-law, they created dozens of hand stitched quilts for the family and friends. She also an avid reader until failing eyesight prohibited it. Mrs. Long was a true “country cook” to the enjoyment of her extended family.
Survivors include: her sons, Jim (JoAnn) Long of Barwick, GA, and Dennis Long of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Jenny (Kipp) Collins of Jesup, GA and Scott Long of Atlanta, GA; great-grandsons, Harris (Kasey) Collins and Alex Collins, both of Brunswick, GA; sister-in-law, Mabel York of Thomasville, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special thanks go to her care givers, Dorothy Jones, Lillie Bell, and Ernestine Butler for their love and care, and to Archbold Hospice and Archbold Wound Care.
