Leon Maurice Moore

Graveside funeral services for Leon Maurice Moore, 86, of Whigham, GA, are at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Pastor Johnny H. Moore will officiate. Mr. Moore passed away at PruittHealth Crestwood, Valdosta, GA, on Thursday, January 11, 2024.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Torres, Josh Kines, Hunter Baxley, Tommy Moore, Clay Strickland and Marc Ridley.
Mr. Moore was born on April 9, 1937, in Miami, FL, to the late Leo Marvin Moore and Gwendolyn Woodcock Moore.
He served in the US Army from 1960 until 1962. He was an airplane mechanic with Eastern Airlines. In his spare time, he loved hunting in the Everglades, fishing, country music, as well as metal fabricating and welding.
Survivors include: daughters, Carla Ridley (Marc), Annie Strickland (Clay) and Leona Moore, all of Whigham, GA; grandchildren, Heather Torres (Michael) of Cairo, GA, Amanda Kines (Josh) of Whigham, GA, Katy Buckhalter of Whigham, GA, Matthew Bowling of Whigham, GA, Gina Hopwood of Cairo, GA, Jack Strickland of Whigham, GA, Kolby Strickland of Whigham, GA; great-grandchildren, Reighly, Ryder, Rylan, Mason, Grayson, Liam and Stetson.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, sister, Joyce Mayhew; brother, Marvin Moore; grandson, Brian Buckhalter; and the mother of his children, Marie Jean Moore.
