Lawrence “Larry” Marvin Rickels
January 28, 1948 – March 9, 2026

Lawrence “Larry” Marvin Rickels, 78, of Cairo, GA, passed away at Archbold Living in Cairo, GA, on Monday, March 9, 2026. He will be interred in Woodlawn Cemetery in Whigham. A memorial will be held at the Cairo AA House at a later date.

Mr. Rickels was born on January 28, 1948, in Miami, FL, to the late Marvin L. Rickels and Elise Brinson Rickels. After high school graduation he served his country in the United States Air Force. In his later life, he retired as the owner and operator of Grass Hopper Lawn Service.

Larry has been a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 48 years. Larry loved God and he loved AA. He performed many service duties for the Cairo group. He was known to load up the Buick and carry newcomers to meetings from Dothan to Sylvester to Valdosta. Larry also served as treasurer of Cairo AA for many years. There was nothing he wouldn’t do to carry the message. He touched the lives of many who struggled and he will surely be missed.

Larry does not have any survivors. Darlene Cox, his sister, passed away three years ago in South Carolina. His best friend, Charlie Head, of Cairo, GA, will complete and carry out Larry’s wishes after his passing.
