Funeral services for Kenneth Edward Chason, 72, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the Whigham Methodist Church, Whigham, GA. Rev. Allen Hartsfield will officiate. Services will conclude at the church. Private interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mr. Chason passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA, on Sunday, September 7, 2025.

Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Shephard, Jet Cox, Mike Barfield, George Stokes, Ray Gainey, Ken Leggett and Brian Stokes.

Mr. Chason was born on April 12, 1953, in Cairo, GA, to the late Horace Chason and Eunice Darley Chason. He graduated from Whigham High School in 1971, and he served in the Georgia National Guard. On January 29, 1976, he married Sharon Cassels Chason. They have been married 49 years. He retired after 46 years as a salesman with Ira Higdon Grocery Company. He was a member of the Whigham Methodist Church. He loved gardening and had a green thumb. His specialty was growing sweet potatoes which were in high demand by family and friends.

Survivors include: his wife, Sharon Chason of Cairo, GA; children, Doug Chason (Logan) of Tifton, GA, Angie Lawson (John) of Whigham, GA, Amy Hagan of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Ashlyn Hagan of Cairo, GA, Aiden Lawson of Whigham, GA, Beau Chason, Oliver Chason, both of Tifton, GA; siblings, David Chason (Gail) of Cairo, Charles Chason (Kim) of Whigham, GA, Faye Hopkins (Duane) of Cairo, GA, Kaye Gainey (Ray) of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Horace and Eunice Chason; and a sister, Annette Andrews.

The family will receive friends at the Whigham Methodist Church immediately following the service.
