Funeral services for Katherine Virginia Hays Mash, 85, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Long Branch Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Will Cook and Marty Smith will officiate. Interment will be in Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Pelham, GA. Mrs. Mash passed away at Archbold Living-Cairo on Sunday, January 11, 2025.

Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Mrs. Mash was born on January 9, 1941, in Dothan, AL, to the late Alto Madison Hays, Sr. and Martha Mattie Truesdell Hays. On October 4, 1958, she married Braxton Monroe Mash, who preceded her in death on October 27, 2015. She retired from Walmart, Inc. She was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church in Cairo.

Survivors include: daughters, Mary Braden (Keith) of Adairsville, GA, Connie S. Sellars of Moultrie, GA, Debra Mathis (Eddie) of Cairo, GA, Sherry Ring (Bryant) of Thomasville, GA, Paula Champion (Chris) of Thomasville, GA; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Shirley Owens of Abbeville, AL, Charlene Sadler of Cairo, GA, Sarah Moore of Climax, GA.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Alto and Martha Hays; husband, Braxton Mash; daughter, Sanda K. Mash; son, James E. “Bubba” Mash; and siblings, Lois Thomas, Mary Elizabeth Gardner, Mary Frances Ross, Marvin Hays and Eugene Hays.
