Jones Paul Forrester
March 7, 1943 – October 6, 2025

Memorial services honoring Jones Paul Forrester, 82, of Cairo, GA, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 26, 2025, at El Bethel Baptist Church, Whigham, GA. Dr. Bob Knight will officiate. Private interment will be in El Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mr. Forrester passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA, on Monday, October 6, 2025.
Mr. Forrester was born on March 7, 1943, in Thomasville, GA, to the late Jones Albert Forrester and Norma Lou Lacy Harris. He served his country in the United States Air Force. On July 3, 1986, he married Alynda McCorkle Forrester, who preceded him in death on January 21, 2022. He was a proud member of El Bethel Baptist Church in Whigham. He was affectionately known as “Butch” and “Mr. Paul” by family and friends. He found purpose and great joy serving at and with his church community at El Bethel. He had a true love of nature and could easily spend hours outdoors … fishing, tending to his property, and traveling to national parks and Civil War heritage sites. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, sharing adventures both simple and grand. Above all, his family and the memories they created together were his true treasures.
Survivors include: his children, Brian Forrester of Tampa FL, Melissa Forrester Larsen, and her partner Courtney Smith, of Rochester Hills, MI; stepchildren, Jeffrey Horton (Kathy) of Montgomery, AL, Scott Horton (Debra) of Albany, GA, and Maria Horton Sloane of Montgomery, AL; grandchildren, Jackson Forrester, Lucas Forrester, and Sophie Larsen; step grandchildren, Burt Horton (Laura), Jane Claire Carter (Brent), Ashlee James (Colby), Caleb Horton (Ashleigh), Lindsey Kotter (Jake), Hensley Horton Sloane; and step-great grandchildren, Evelyn Carter, Hamilton Carter, Tripp Horton, Mason Horton, Caleigh Maebelle Horton, Scarlett Kay Kotter, Thomas Scott Kotter, and Holland Vera James; and many well-loved cousins and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Alynda McCorkle Forrester; his parents, Jones A. Forrester, and Norma Lou Lacy Harris; stepmother, Maureen Forrester; stepfather, Obediah Harris; and step grandson, Noah Horton.

The family will receive friends at El Bethel Baptist Church immediately following the memorial service.
