Johnny Ebineezer Hopkins
February 26, 1938 – January 5, 2026

Johnny Ebineezer Hopkins, 87, of Cairo, GA, passed away at the Lake City VA Medical Center, in Lake City, FL, on Monday, January 5, 2026. Memorial services will be announced at a later time.

Mr. Hopkins was born on February 26, 1938, in Reno, GA, to the late William “Bud” Robert Hopkins and Alice Stephens Hopkins. He served his country in the United States Army. On April 16, 1961, he married Patsy McLendon Hopkins, who preceded him in death on February 28, 2023. They were married for over 61 years. He was a retired timber forester. He was a member of the Cairo First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his children, Nancie McCarty of Cairo, GA, Johnny Hopkins, Jr. (Michele) of Erie, PA; grandchildren, Millie Rouse, Walt Rouse (Ashley), both of Thomasville, GA; great-grandchild, Liam “Rooster” Roberson of Cairo, GA; sisters, Delores Henderson of Virginia, Marie Gerald of Thomasville, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Bud and Alice Hopkins; his wife, Patsy McLendon Hopkins; daughter, Frankie Patricia Smith, sons-in-law, Douglas Smith, Mac McCarty; and a brother, J.W. Hopkins.
