Funeral services for Jean Scott, 86, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Whit Byram and Rev. Rob Cronin will officiate. Services will conclude at the church. Private interment will be in the Concord Cemetery, Concord, FL. Mrs. Scott passed away at Magnolia Place of Cairo, GA, on Sunday, May 28, 2017.

Active pallbearers will be Shaun Bruton, Stuart Dalton, Clay Dalton, Hunter Dalton, Tim VanLandingham, Walter VanLandingham, Mark VanLandingham and Daniel VanLandingham.

Mrs. Scott was born on April 13, 1931, in Cairo, GA, to the late John Edward (J.E.) VanLandingham and Ruth Lane VanLandingham. She married Joe Scott on November 21, 1952, and he preceded her in death on October 14, 1999. She retired as an administrative assistant for the State of Florida General Services. Jean and her husband attended and served at the Concordia Baptist Church in Concord, FL, for many years when the girls were growing up. She later joined the First United Methodist Church in Cairo.

Survivors include: daughters, JoAnn Bruton (Allen) of Havana, FL, Beverly Dalton (Donald) of Calvary, GA; grandchildren, Shaun Bruton of Havana, FL, Kristin Bruton of Havana, FL, Stuart Dalton (Nichole) of Lawrenceville, GA, Clay Dalton of Calvary, GA, Hunter Dalton of Calvary, GA; sister, Christine Voyles of Cairo, GA; sisters-in-law, Barbara VanLandingham of Cairo, GA, Ann Scott of Havana, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; a brother, John Walter VanLandingham, Sr.; and a sister, Charlotte Schaap.

The family would like to sincerely thank the administration and staff of Magnolia Place of Cairo for their loving care and kindness.

The family will receive friends at the Cairo First United Methodist Church on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
