James Lucas Halstead
May 10, 1935 – October 20, 2022

Funeral services for James Lucas Halstead, 87, of Cairo, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Monday,  October 24, 2022, at Hilltop Bible Baptist Church, Cairo, GA.  Pastor David Hewett, Rev. Kenneth Cloud and Rev. Ricky Pearson will officiate.  Interment will be in Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Mr. Halstead passed away at his home on Thursday, October 20, 2022.

Active pallbearers will be Nicholas Halstead, Nathan Halstead, Lucas Halstead, Johnny Carson, Richard Hughes and James Duktt.  Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Yates, Billy Willis, Jay Bentley, Jack Scott, Jimmy Phillips and Michael Orme.

Mr. Halstead was born on May 10, 1935, in Albany, GA, to the late Willie Mae Halstead.  On December 13, 1997, he married Jenell Harrison Halstead, who survives.  He retired from the Torrington Corporation when he worked in maintenance.  He was a member of Hilltop Bible Baptist Church in Cairo.

Survivors include: his wife of 24 years, Jenell Halstead of Cairo, GA; son, Rex Halstead (Darlene) of Cairo, GA; step-daughters, Tina Carter (James) of Cairo, GA, Pastor Teressa Hewett (Pastor David) of Adel, GA; grandchildren, Nicholas Halstead of Cairo, GA, Nathan Halstead of Cairo, GA, Lucas Halstead of Ft. Myers, FL, Lucas Halstead, Holly Halstead of Whigham, GA, Leacy Halstead of Tallahassee, FL, Landon Carter of Thomasville, GA, Brandi Ray (Mike) of Adel, GA, Tori Bennett (Dallas) of Tifton, GA, Bobby Stout (Hope) of Tifton, GA; Chris Hewett (Jessica) of Douglas, GA; and great-grandchildren, Paisley, Jase, Hollynn, Basil, Tristan, Payton, Carter, Murphy, Zane, Parker.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his first wife, Evelyn Halstead; and sons, Ricky Halstead, Rodney Halstead.

Memorials may be made in Mr. Halstead’s memory to: Best Friends Dog Rescue, 1330 Bold Springs Road, Cairo, GA  39897; or the Hilltop Bible Baptist Church, 110 17th Ave NW, Cairo, GA 39828.

The family will receive friends at Hilltop Bible Baptist Church on Monday, October 24, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
