James “Jimmy” Anderson Hammett

Funeral services for James “Jimmy” Anderson Hammett, 69, of Reno, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 6, 2026, at First Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Greg Fenn will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Hammett passed away at Grady General Hospital in Cairo, GA, on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
Active pallbearers will be Jason Northrop, Ken Ponder, Charles Harrell, Mark Bryant, Bobby Williams, and Eric Cohen.

Mr. Hammett was born on April 25, 1957, in Cairo, GA, to the late Ralph Anderson Hammett and Wynelle Kelley Hammett. After graduating from Cairo High School, he earned his college degree, Bachelor of Science in Business at Florida State University. He was the owner of A&R Metals. He was a devoted member of Reno Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his children, Tiffany Northrop (Jason) of Barhamsville, VA, Thomas Hammett (Leslie) of Marietta, GA; grandchildren, Maiya Northrop, Jackson Hammett, Henry Hammett; brothers, Dennis Hammett of Dallas TX, Terry Rehberg (Cathy) Newnan, GA; and the mother of his children, Tina Hammett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Wynelle Hammett.

The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church on Saturday June, 6 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
