Jack Cone Drew, Sr.
January 19, 1929 – August 7, 2023

Services for Jack Cone Drew, Sr., 94, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Clark Funeral Home Chapel, Cairo, GA, with Dr. Ron McCaskill officiating.  A private interment service will follow.  Mr. Drew passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023, at his home.

Active pallbearers will be Mr. Drew’s Grandsons: Hunter Turner, Sam Drew, Will Drew, Jason Hoop, Drew Johnson and Jeb Johnson.

Mr. Drew was born on January 19, 1929, in Cairo, GA, to the late Emmett Groover Drew and Mary Lottie Cone Drew.  A graduate of Cairo High School and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Tifton, GA, Mr. Drew served in the military following his studies.   After completing his military service, Mr. Drew returned to Grady County and was a lifelong resident and farmer.

He was a dedicated contributor and supporter to the community having served as a Senior Member of the Cairo Kiwanis Club, previous service on the Grady County Board of Commissioner and Grady County Board of Education, having served as Chairman for both organizations, and as a member of the 1946 CHS Syrupmaker State Championship Football Team.   Mr. Drew was honored to be recognized as the ABAC Alumni Association’s 1983 Master Farmer, Grady County FFA Honorary Chapter Farmer, 1998 Grady County Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year and 2009 Georgia Centennial Farm Award.  Mr. Drew was also a lifelong member of Bold Springs Methodist Church.

He is survived by: his wife of ten years, Barbara Sauls Locke Drew of Dawson, GA; daughters, Cindy Drew Turner (Rodney) of Cairo, GA, Linda Drew Johnson (Bobby) of Thomasville, GA, Lisa Drew Hoop (George) of Fort Myers, FL; son, Jack C. Drew, Jr. (Lana) of Cordele, GA; Rodney Locke (Dawn) of Dawson, GA and Buni Locke Durr (Richard) of Dawson, GA grandchildren, Audrey Turner Harper, Hunter Aubrey Turner, Samuel Jack Drew, William Henry Drew, Drew Bowman Johnson, Lauren Elizabeth Johnson Harrell, Jeb Miller Johnson, Jason Alexander Hoop, Lindsay Marie Hoop, Marlee Locke, Mason Locke, Taylor Locke, Chesley Durr, Mathew Durr, Delle Durr Giovingo; and numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.  And, special recognition to family members providing care for Mr. Drew:  Angie Hill, Debbie Green, Deborah Hill, Valerie Jones, Lorraine Pate, Cythnia Gurley, Christine Teal Thompson and the dedicated staff of Bethany Hospice.

Mr. Drew was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Joan Miller Drew, his parents; his granddaughter Victoria Turner Walden, his great-granddaughter, Hollyn Joanna Walden, his great-grandson, Kenneth Eric Walden, Jr., his sister, Evelyn Maurice Drew Rehberg and Mary Helen Drew Herschell.

The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service at Clark Funeral Home.
