Harold E. “Ed” Marshall
June 19, 1943 – January 6, 2024

Memorial services for Harold E. “Ed” Marshall, 80, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Pine Park Baptist Church, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Brandon Smith will officiate.  Mr. Marshall passed away at his home in Cairo, GA, on Saturday, January 6, 2024.

Mr. Marshall was born on June 19, 1943, in Blytheville, AK, to the late Harold Espey Marshall and Claudia Lee Anderson Belew.  He married Flora Jean Sheppard Marshall, who survives, on April 12, 1986.

A veteran of the US Navy, he was a boiler maker for the US Navy for eight years.  Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he worked for many years as a boiler maker for the US Navy Shipyards.  A faithful member at Pine Park Baptist Church, he was also a member of the Masonic Lodge Cairo, the American Legion of Cairo, volunteered with the Jailhouse Ministry and the Senior Center.  He also drove the Veteran Express Bus for many years, taking veterans to Tallahassee, Gainesville and Lake City.

He was a caring person who never turned anyone away.  He would stop and give his last dollar to someone on the side of the road that looked like they needed it more.  He was forever giving to his family, friends and even strangers.

Survivors include:  his wife, Flora Jean Marshall; daughters, Wendy Williams (John) of Homer, LA, Kristine Marshall of Camden, NJ, Denise Mirro of Indiana, Tammy Sellers (Bob) of Thomasville, GA; sons, Scott Marshall of Camden, NJ, Steven Marshall (Lisa) of Camden, NJ, Paul Marshall (Erika) of Cairo, GA, Thomas Manning of Cairo, GA, Walt Baugher (Kristiin) of Cairo, GA; 27 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by:  his father, Harold Espey Marshall; his mother, Claudia Lee Anderson Belew; his dad, Paul Belew; and his son, George Johns.

Memorials may be made in Mr. Marshall’s memory to:  The Youth Fund at Pine Park Baptist Church, 3783 Pine Park Road, Cairo, GA 39828.

The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the church.
