Greta Weathers Moore

Funeral services for Greta Weathers Moore, 91, of Cairo, GA, are at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at the Family Worship Center, Cairo, GA.  Pastor Johnny H. Moore will officiate.  Services will conclude at the church.  Private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Mrs. Moore passed away at Legacy Village at Plantation Manor in Thomasville, GA, on Friday, December 1, 2023.

Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Moore, John Thomas Hester, Joey Wilson, Philip Palmer, Wayne Morgan, Terry Darsey and Robert Cox.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders of Family Worship Center and John Whitman and Ricky Britt.  Special honorees will be Julie Barrineau, Nora Sutton, Dianne Boutwell, Valarie Jones and Lateshia Rooks.

Mrs. Moore was born on March 20, 1932, in Blountstown, FL, to the late Johnie Jackson Weathers and Zula Collins Weathers.  On May 1, 1955, she married Herman Ira Moore, who preceded her in death on July 26, 2017.   They were married for 62 years.  Greta was a retired educator with the Grady County Board of Education.   She will be remembered as a talented pianist and volunteer at Family Worship Center.

Survivors include: her children, Jane Walden of Cairo, GA, Pastor Johnny H. Moore (Dianne) of Cairo, GA, Michael Moore (Nive) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Joshua Moore (Hannah) of Cairo, GA, Jonathan Moore (Ashley) of Cairo, GA, Anna Hester, (John Thomas) of Cairo, GA, Hailee Moore (fiancé, Robert Cox) of Cairo, GA, Madison Moore of Cairo, GA, Alacia Wall (Britt) of Moultrie, GA, Derek Walden of Moultrie, GA; sister, Sue Maddox of Cairo, GA; great-grandchildren, Jude Moore, Abigail Moore, Luke Moore, Emily Moore, Katalina Walden, Madilyn Wall; sister-in-law, Sara Moore McKown (Buzz) of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; son-in-law, Gary Walden; sisters, Annette Weathers, Josephine Britt; infant brother William “Billy” Weathers; brothers-in-law, W. L Maddox and Williard Britt; and a sister-in-law, Faye Moore Strickland.

The family will receive friends at Family Worship Center, 1760 HWY 84 West, Cairo, GA, on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
