Gertrude Dean “Trudy” Vickers

Gertrude Dean “Trudy” Vickers, 74, of Whigham, GA, passed away at her home on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.  No services are planned at this time.

Mrs. Vickers was born on January 9, 1948, in Meigs, GA, to the late Willie Enos Crosby and Flossie Dean Bynum Crosby.  On January 15, 1982, she married Derrick Albert Vickers, who survives.  They were married for over 40 years.  She retired as the purchasing secretary for BASF Corporation (Engelhard) in Attapulgus, GA.  She was of the Baptist faith.  She was a devoted wife, mother and mema.

Survivors include: her husband, Derrick Vickers of Whigham, GA; children, Michelle Warren (Stephen) of Whigham, GA, Clifton Vickers of Whigham, GA, Bryan Vickers (Melissa) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Kristopher Sadler (Holli) of Sneads, FL, John West of Whigham, GA, Shellie Scott of Statesboro, GA, Katelynn Warren of Cairo, GA, Hannah Warren of Moultrie, GA, Megan Vickers of Cairo, GA, Josh Vickers of Cairo, GA, Dexter Harper of Moultrie, GA; great-grandchildren, Gabe Sadler of Thomasville, GA, Gavin Sadler, Emily Sadler of Thomasville, GA, Laila Knight, Kaiden Sadler of Cairo, GA, Ryley Barrett of Whigham, GA, River Vickers of Whigham, GA, Ryder West of Thomasville, GA, Kylie West of Cairo, GA; brother and sisters, Junior Crosby (Joan) of Adel, GA, Marilyn Bragg (David) of Putney, GA, Martha Lee Howell (Royal) of Douglas, GA, Carolyn Myers of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by: maternal parents, Flossie Dean and Kenneth C. Maxwell; paternal parents, Willie and Ruby Crosby; grandson, Jerry Dean West; and brothers, Gene Maxwell, James Crosby, Kenneth “Buddy” Maxwell.

The family wants to send a special thank you to the Hospice of Southwest Georgia for the loving care that their nurses provided.
