Funeral services for Gary Lemuel Jones, 77, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Pine Level Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Jim Weaver will officiate. Interment will be in Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Gary passed away at home on Saturday, March 28, 2026.

Active pallbearers will be his fellow employees of Clark Funeral Home.

Gary was born on July 18, 1948, in Cairo, GA, to the late Tom Watson Jones and Mary Cornelia Council Jones. He was a member of Cairo High School Class of 1966. He served his country in the Army National Guard. On March 16, 1973, he married EmoLic Tuggle Jones, and they recently celebrated 53 years of marriage. He retired from Ira Higdon Grocery Company in Cairo as the warehouse manager. As a young boy, Gary chose to adopt Clark Funeral Home as his working family. He became a beloved employee that has worked and served many families throughout the years and over family generations. Gary was well known for his community support and involvement. He quietly and willingly donated his time and talents to help serve others in a time of need.

Survivors include: his wife, EmoLic T. Jones of Cairo, GA; his daughter and son-in-law, Amanda J. Gainous and Tommy of Cairo, GA; granddaughter, EmaLee Catherine Gainous of Cairo, GA; and a sister-in-law, Mary T. Dees of Cairo, GA.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Tom and Cornelia Jones; brother, Tommy Jones; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James Frazier Tuggle and Mary Frances Willis Tuggle; and a brother-in-law, James Watson “Buster” Tuggle.
