Fred McDaniel “Mac” Butler
November 26, 1932 – April 3, 2024

Funeral services for Fred McDaniel “Mac” Butler, 91, of Pelham, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Jim Weaver and Rev. Doug Hall will officiate.  Interment with Masonic Rites and Military Honors will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Mr. Butler passed away at his home in Pelham, GA, on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

Active pallbearers will be Dave Ulmer, Jamie Robertson, Ben Celaya, Burt Reagon, Roger Harrell and Jeffery Lewis.

Mr. Butler was born on November 26, 1932, in Macon, GA, to the late Fred Udell Butler and Berta Lee Anderson Butler.  He served in the Navy during the Korean War and later joined the Air Force for a combined service of over 21 years.  On June 5, 1954, he married Joyce Harrell Butler, who preceded him in death on May 7, 2013.  Following his military career, he taught at Cairo High School for 23 years, while also working as a licensed electrical contractor, air conditioning contractor, and low voltage contractor. Later in retirement, he helped assist his son Michael, who had started his own electrical contracting business. He enjoyed many hobbies, traveling, camping, and spending time with family and friends. Mac was a member of the Masonic Lodge 299 and a member of the First Baptist Church of Pelham.

Survivors include: his children, Susan Tillis (John) of Williamsburg, VA, Michael David Butler of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Shelby Elaine Batten (Matthew) of Thomasville, GA, Luke Aaron Tillis, United States Navy, Gulf Port, MS; Sara Michelle Butler, Hailey Marie Butler, both of Colquitt, GA; great-grandson, Kasey John Batten of Thomasville, GA; sisters, Harriett Jo Prince of Manchester, GA, Judy Carole Akins of Rochelle, GA; brother, Joel Edward Butler (Judy) of Pensacola, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Berta Lee Butler; his wife, Joyce Butler; brother, Larry James Butler; and sisters, Dora Lee Cross, Ellen Lugenia Thompson.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

A Reception will be held at Long Branch Baptist Church, Cairo GA, following the graveside service.
