Evelyn Barrineau Robertson
June 20, 1936 – July 10, 2023

Funeral services for Evelyn Virginia Barrineau Robertson, 87, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA.  Pastor Johnny H. Moore will officiate.  Services will conclude at the chapel.  Private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Mrs. Robertson passed away at her home on Monday, July 10, 2023.

Mrs. Robertson was born on June 20, 1936, in Cairo, GA, to the late Roy Hap Barrineau and Velma Miley Barrineau.  On September 24, 1954, she married James Milton Robertson, Sr., who preceded her in death on February 4, 2014.  They were married for almost 60 years.  She was raised on a working farm and learned a strong work ethic at an early age that she followed her whole life.  Her Dad nicknamed her Red and it stuck.  She became known as Granny Red when she returned from a beach trip with an air-brushed T-shirt that said Granny Red and had a picture of her grandson Brian.  They traveled to new areas in the early years of their marriage including Chicago, Maryland, Washington, DC, Florida panhandle and the SW coast and finally settled back in Cairo, GA in the early 1970’s.  She enjoyed being outside and was meticulous about her yard.  Before her retirement, she was employed with Ithaca Industries in Cairo.  She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include: daughters, Gail Hancock (Steve) of Wake Forest, NC, Shirley Tuggle of Cairo, GA, Debra Toney of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Tim Bishop (Sherryl) of Goldsboro, NC, Nathan R. Hancock (Esteban) of Cramerton, NC, Candace Knapik of Clayton, NC, Jennifer Hancock of Raleigh, NC, Jamie Robertson (Laura) of Cairo, GA, Angel Langston (Brett) of Cairo, GA, Brian Britt (Amanda), Joshua Tuggle, Tyler Tuggle (Amber), all of Cairo, GA, Rex D. Robertson, Jr. of Cairo, GA,  Cynthia Robertson of Cairo, GA, Steven Robertson (Danielle) of Cairo, GA, Daniel Page (Felicia) of Cairo, GA, Tad Page (Cameron) of Lebanon, IN; 28 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Marie VanBrunt of Cairo, GA, India Jackson of Sylvester, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, sons, James Robertson, Jr. and Rex D. Robertson, Sr., brothers, Eddie Barrineau, George Barrineau, Jimmy Barrineau, Bill Barrineau; and sisters, Mary Barrineau, Francis Barrineau and Alice Barrineau.

She was a cancer survivor of over 30 years.  Memorials may be made in Mrs. Robertson’s memory to the American Cancer Society.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home immediately following the funeral service.
