Elaine Maxwell Womble
July 11, 1951 – May 23, 2021

Funeral services for Marilyn Elaine Maxwell Womble, 69, of Tallahassee, FL, are at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 27, 2021, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Chris Allen will officiate.  Private family interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Mrs. Womble passed away peacefully at her home in Tallahassee, FL, on Sunday, May 23, 2021.

Active pallbearers will be Jason Maxwell, Jake Maxwell, Jim Long, Scott Long, Greg Timmons and Dallas Strickland.

Mrs. Womble was born on July 11, 1951, in Cairo, GA, to the late C. Rudolph Maxwell and Winifred Perkins Maxwell, who survives.  Elaine was a member of the Cairo High School Class of 1969.  On February 20, 1976, she married Charles Stanley “Buck” Womble, who preceded her in death on October 26, 2019.  They were married for 43 years.  Elaine was an executive secretary for the Dept of Management Services for the State of Florida until her retirement.  She was a dedicated homemaker that loved to cook and to work in her flower beds.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cairo.  Elaine was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include: her son, Stan Womble (Lauren) of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, Hagan Womble, Maxwell Womble, Hazel Womble, all of Tallahassee, FL; her mother, Winifred Perkins Maxwell of Whigham, GA; sister-in-law, Donna Maxwell of Dothan, AL; nephew and niece, Jason Maxwell (Paula) of Bonaire, GA, Stephanie Fenner (Geoffrey) of Greensboro, NC; and a host of cousins and extended family.

She was preceded in death by: her father; her husband, and a brother, Stephen Rudolph “Steve” Maxwell.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Womble’s memory to: First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 1538, Cairo, GA 39828.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Thursday, May 27, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
