Edward Eugene “Gene” Harrison
July 17, 1933 – August 10, 2023

Funeral services for Edward Eugene “Gene” Harrison, 90, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Magnolia Baptist Church, Whigham, GA.  Rev. Johnny Burdick, Rev. Robert Crapps, and Rev. Jimmy Ausburn will officiate.  Interment will be in Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery, Whigham, GA.  Mr. Harrison passed away at his home on Thursday, August 10, 2023.

Active pallbearers will be Mason Miller, Austin Miller, Shawn Harrison, Matt Walker, Michael Boyette and Mark Sexton.  Honorary pallbearers George Denison, Chris Harrison, West William and Israel Kirkland.

Mr. Harrison was born on July 17, 1933, in Elba, AL, to the late Arcus Harrison and Audrey Pinckard Harrison.  He married Betty Jean Harrison on July 27, 1951, and they shared 65 years together.   She preceded him in death on June 10, 2016.  He was the owner and operator of Flooring Specialty in Cairo, GA, for over 30 years.  He was known as the “One Man Crew.”  He was a devoted member and deacon of Magnolia Baptist Church in Whigham.

Survivors include: his sons, Edward Harrison of Cairo, GA, Frank Harrison of Cairo, GA; daughter, Brenda Harrison Miller of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Carissa Walker (Matt) of Cairo, GA, Melissa Manzill (Tony) of Vancouver Washington, Christy Bertrand (Winston) of Zephyr Hills, FL, Shawn Harrison (Erika) of Cairo, GA, Alexis Harrison of Cairo, GA, Mason Miller (Linda) of North Augusta, SC, Austin Miller (Haiylee) of Cairo, GA; great-grandchildren, Judson Harrison of Cairo, GA, Ayda Harrison of Cairo, GA, Lana Walker of Cairo, GA, Lilly Walker of Cairo, GA, Finley Walker of Cairo, GA; sister, Helen Moore of Kinston, AL; sister-in-law, Mary Margaret Werner of New Port Richey, FL; brother-in-law, Clayton Denison of Patterson, GA; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; and brothers, Collis Harrison, Bill Harrison, Burin Harrison and Pete Harrison.

The family wishes to express their love and appreciation to his two nurses, Kim Bowles and Lauren Regan, affiliated with Georgia Hospice Care.

The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service in the Fellowship Hall.
