Dorothy Jeanell Jones Dalton

Dorothy Jeanell Jones Dalton, 91, of Calvary, Georgia passed away at Magnolia Place Assisted Living in Cairo, Georgia on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. The funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Calvary, Georgia at 2:00 on Friday, March 27, 2026. Rev. Rob Cronin and Rev. Mike Keown will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Calvary Baptist Church. A private internment service will follow the ceremony at Piedmont Cemetery in Calvary, Georgia.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons: Stuart Dalton, Clay Dalton, Hunter Dalton, Matt Smith, Mason Smith and Trevor Moncrief.
“Miss Dot” was born on September 1, 1934, in Climax, GA to H.L. (Sam) Jones and Mamie Ulmer Jones. She married Raymond Dalton and moved to Calvary in 1954. He preceded her in death in 2012. Her many occupations included bookkeeper at Forsyth Ward Insurance, devoted farmer’s wife and homemaker, Washington Middle School lunchroom manager, school bus driver for Grady County School System and vegetable stand entrepreneur. She was extremely passionate about her family, church, flowers and vegetable garden.
Survivors include her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Donald (Beverly) Dalton, Stuart (Nichole) Dalton – Autumn Grace & Lakelynn Dalton, Clay Dalton and Hunter Dalton, all of Calvary; Joyce (Lex) Moore, of Calvary and Meredith (Danny) Powers – Lexi Kate & Blakeley Powers of Thomasville and Lea Moore of Calvary; Sheila (Jay) Smith, Matthew (Ashley) Smith – Hudson & Harper Smith, Merrit (Ryan) Garnto – Andrew, Grady & Chapman Garnto, Mason (Karon) Smith -Jack, Hank & Charlotte Smith, all of Leesburg, Georgia; Sherry (Marc) Moncrief of Calvary, Megan (Justin) Beall- Calvin, Connor & Henley Beall of Whigham, Georgia, Trevor (Laura) Moncrief – Lily and Rae Moncrief of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; her sister, Sarah Jones Mauldin of Brunswick, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings Harold Jones, Annie Mae Perkins, Lewis Jones, Margaret Smith, Christine Taylor and Amos Jones.
