Dorothy Faye Clark “Dot” Elkins
September 13, 1933 – December 1, 2021

Private graveside funeral services for Dorothy Faye Clark “Dot” Elkins, 88, of Cairo, GA, on Friday, December 3, 2021, in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Charles “Buddy” Whatley and Annie Tyus Parks will officiate.  Annie was a special friend to Dot and her family.  Mrs. Elkins passed away at her home on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.

Mrs. Elkins was born on September 13, 1933, in Cairo, GA, to the late Walter Clark and Gussie Davis Clark.  She went to Union School in Grady County, where she met her future husband, Lavaughn.  She graduated from Cairo High School in 1950.  She and Lavaughn were married on January 14, 1951, and he preceded her in death on February 10, 1998.  They were married for 47 years.   Dot worked at Warner’s in Thomasville as a seamstress and later at Grady County Mills.  She also helped her husband at the local Dairy Queen.  She was a dependable and hard worker.  She was a devoted member of Woodland Methodist Church.

Dot enjoyed working outdoors in her vegetable garden and flowers.  She enjoyed watching birds and listening to music.  She loved and cared for her family and others very much.  Spending time together was important to Dot.

Survivors include: her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Brenda Elkins of Cairo, GA; sister, Vallie Horton of Cairo, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Walter and Gussie Clark; her husband, Lavaughn Elkins; sisters, Sylvia Chastain, Juanita Mathis; and a brother, Arthur Brown “AB” Clark.

The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to the nurses of Hospice of Southwest Georgia of Thomasville, especially Melissa Edwards, for the care, love, concern and compassion shown to Dot Elkins and her family during her illness.
