Funeral services for Vivian Delores Baggett Smith, 89, of Thomasville, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Pine Forest Baptist Church, Ochlocknee, GA. Rev. Blake Smith and Rev. Gordon Cloud will officiate. Interment will be in Pine Forest Baptist Church Cemetery, Ochlocknee, GA. Mrs. Smith passed away at her son’s home in Thomasville, GA, on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
Active pallbearers will be Joshua Smith, Karl Glass, Konner Glass, Chris Wheaton, Kevin Suber and Brian Baggett.
Mrs. Smith was born on September 14, 1935, in Thomasville, GA, to the late Early Dean Baggett and Pearl Owens Baggett. On May 22, 1955, she married Cecil Wright Smith, who preceded her in death on December 15, 2017. They were married for over 62 years.
She was a devoted member of Pine Forest Baptist Church where she served for many years as secretary and treasurer. She and her husband before his death loved helping others. They gave selflessly to help many families in their church and community. She and Cecil raised two sons, Steve and Kenneth and together with them she owned and operated Ken Smith’s Sporting Goods Store for 25 years. She enjoyed helping many people in her community with their sporting goods needs. After closing the store, she worked at Frills and Freckles Children’s clothing store in Thomasville until she retired.
Survivors include: her son, Steve Smith (Belinda) of Thomasville, GA; daughter-in-law, Lori Smith-Foran (Marvin) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Blair Wheaton (Chris) of Jefferson, GA, Mallory Glass (Karl) of Thomasville, GA, Blake Smith (Ashley) of Godley, TX, Joshua Smith of Thomasville, GA; great-grandchildren, Konner Glass of Thomasville, GA, Anna Glass of Thomasville, GA, Kenlee Wheaton of Jefferson, GA, Landree Wheaton of Jefferson, GA, Myles Wheaton of Jefferson, GA, Jayel Smith of Godley, TX; brother, Earl Baggett (Peggy) of Monticello, FL; sisters, Betty Suber of Tallahassee, FL, Diane Salisbury of Thomasville, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Early Dean and Pearl Baggett; her husband, Cecil Smith; her son, Kenneth “Ken” Smith; brother, Alton Baggett (Charolette); brothers-in-law, Lanier Suber and Rex Salisbury.
The family will receive friends at Pine Forest Baptist Church on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
