Mrs. Rackley was born on November 7, 1944, in Cairo, GA, to the late Frank Harrison Voyles and Mary Louise Taylor Voyles. On September 11, 1964, she married Royce Rackley, who preceded her in death on January 30, 2008. They were married for over 43 years.
She graduated from Cairo High School in 1962 and earned her associate’s degree from Norman Park Junior College in 1964. As a devoted wife and mother of three girls, she chose to continue her education, obtaining her LPN license from Thomas Area Technical School and her associate’s degree in nursing from Albany Junior College. She went on to serve 14 years as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Rooms at Archibold Hospital in both Cairo and Thomasville, before transitioning to mental health nursing at Southwestern State Hospital, where she faithfully served for 15 years until her retirement in 2001.
Retirement never slowed her down. She treasured the years spent caring for her grandchildren after school and cherished every moment of the special visits to see her grandchildren, who live in Florida. She was also a dedicated member of Providence Baptist Church, joyfully serving alongside her brother and many beloved friends as they prepared Wednesday night meals.
Some of her happiest moments were the early Thursday mornings when her brother Tommy arrived before sunrise for their weekly trip to Norman Park to meet Jimmy and Paul. Together, they enjoyed hours of fishing in their favorite watering holes across Colquitt County. And no week was ever complete without Friday breakfast at Three Squares Diner with three of her lifelong high school friends, a cherished tradition affectionately known as the “Friday Morning Girls Club.”
Survivors include: her daughters, Sheri Carrillo of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Laleah DeSouza (Mike) of Palm City, FL, Julie Moilanen (Mike) of Acworth, GA; grandchildren, Taylor Carrillo of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Coleman Carrillo of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Marissa DeSouza of Jacksonville, FL, Michaela Malkiewicz (Jason) of Hendersonville, TN, Hall Moilanen of Dallas, GA; great grandchildren, Royce James (RJ) Malkiewicz of Hendersonville, TN; brother, Paul Voyles (Carolyn) of Moultrie, GA; sisters-in-law, Robbie Voyles of Norman Park, GA, Sadie Voyles of Cairo, GA, Sarah Voyles of Thomasville, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
