Cleo Dawson Allen
October 16, 1933 – March 31, 2023

Funeral services for Cleo D. Allen, 89, of Cairo, GA will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Capel Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Stan Godwin will officiate. Interment will be in Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery.  Cleo passed away peacefully on March 31, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. 

Cleo was born on October 16, 1933, in Clarksville, FL, to the late W.H. Dawson and Minnie Ola Fowler Dawson. She married Freeman Allen Jr., on March 5, 1951, who survives. She retired from the Grady County Board of Education after enjoying a long career at Shiver Elementary School. She also worked hard as a devoted housewife and loving mother. Cleo was a member of Capel Baptist Church.

Cleo’s survivors include: husband, Freeman Allen, Jr., Cairo, GA; her children, Linda Wilson (Ed), Ty Ty, GA, Timothy Allen (Annell), Cairo, GA, Sarita Harrell (Roger), Cairo, GA; son-in-law, Jim Wiggins, Waycross, GA; grandchildren, Brian Harrison (Valarie), Cairo, GA, Brandi Hughes, Tifton, GA, Billy Jesson, Columbia, AL, Casey Harrell, Cairo, GA; great grandchildren, Hunter Harrison, Cairo, GA, Christopher Harrison, Cairo, GA, Emma Hughes, Tifton, GA, Madison Jesson, Thomasville, GA, Bailey Jesson, Whigham, GA and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Wanda Wiggins; son-in-law, Hurschel Harrison, Jr.; an infant grandson; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Capel Baptist Church.
