Clayton Christopher Ulmer

Graveside funeral services for Clayton Christopher Ulmer, 93, of Whigham, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 7, 2025, in Tired Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Gordon King will officiate. Mr. Ulmer passed away at Southern Pines in Thomasville, GA, on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Pallbearers will be Brian Darsey, Brad Darsey, Drew Darsey, Daniel Darsey, Ayden Darsey, Justin Ulmer and Nicholas Ulmer.

Mr. Ulmer was born on March 9, 1932, in Whigham, GA, to the late Arvis Ulmer and Jewel Rixford Walden Ulmer. He served his country in the United States Army. On August 31, 1951, he married Mary Mason Ulmer. They have been married for 74 years. He retired as an appliance repairman. Clayton was a member of the American Legion and a member of Providence Baptist Church in Whigham.

Survivors include: his wife, Mary M. Ulmer of Whigham, GA; children, Vicki U. Bennett (Jon) of Georgetown, GA, Gary Clayton Ulmer (Julie) of Irmo, SC; father of Vicki’s children, Dennis Darsey of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Brian Darsey (April) of Thomasville, GA, Brad Darsey (Abby) of Thomasville, GA, Justin Ulmer (Kelli) of Swansea, SC, Nicholas Ulmer (Lyla) of Lake Lanier, GA, Lindsay Ulmer (Derek) of Lexington, SC, Jordan Ulmer of Irmo, SC; great-grandchildren, Drew Darsey, Daniel Darsey, Ayden Darsey, Garrett Ulmer, Corbin Ulmer, Tucker Ulmer, Michelle Ulmer; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Arvard Ulmer (Kathleen), Florene Voyles (Pete), and Anna Powe (Winfred).
