Clarence Ray Smith
September 24, 1938 – December 18, 2022

Graveside funeral services for Clarence Ray Smith, 84, of League City, TX, formerly of Ochlocknee, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2022, in Pine Forrest Baptist Church Cemetery, Ochlocknee, GA.  Rev. Stacey Williamson will officiate.  Mr. Smith passed away in Texas, on Sunday, December 18, 2022.

Active pallbearers will be Destin Smith, Craig Smith, Scott Douglas and Sean Douglas.

Mr. Smith was born on September 24, 1938, in Cairo, GA, to the late Eddie Lawrence Smith and Mary Emma Churchwell Smith.  Clarence graduated from Cairo High School in 1957.  He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1962.  On November 22, 1966, he married Mary Jane Vaughn Smith, who preceded him in death on May 18, 2021.  He graduated from Tallahassee Junior College with an associated degree in 1970.  He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1992.  Clarence had an avid interest in astronomy and astrophysics.

Survivors include: his children, Destin Smith (Roma) of Austin, TX, Cynthia Garrison (Matt) of League City, TX, Craig Smith of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, Scott Douglas (Callen) of Houston, TX, Sean Douglas (Teresa) of Austin, TX, Hunter Garrison of League City, TX; brother, Dewey Smith (Helen) of Houston, TX; sisters-in-law, Delores Smith of Thomasville, GA, Ermgard Smith of Albany, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by;  his parents; his wife; and his brothers, Grady Smith, Eddie Wade Smith, Cecil Smith and Arthur Smith.
