Barbara Harrison Miller

Funeral services for Barbara Nell Harrison Miller, 93, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Cairo, GA.  Rev. Ron McCaskill will officiate.  Private family interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.  Mrs. Miller passed away at Woodleaf Senior Care in Thomasville, GA, on Sunday, September 18, 2022.

Active pallbearers will be her family members and close friends.

Mrs. Miller was born on December 1, 1928, in Boston, GA, to the late Marvin P. Harrison and Nellie Sherrod Harrison.  On September 26, 1947, she married William “Bill” Miller, Sr., who preceded her in death on December 25, 2013.  She was a retired educator of 30 years, who was employed with the Grady County Board of Education.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cairo.

Barbara was most well known for her love of family.  She enjoyed traveling whether to the mountains or the beach.   She was always ready to go.  She was also known to enjoy a good card game, Hand and Foot, with friends.

Survivors include: daughters, Rebecca M. Prince (Charles, Sr.) of Thomasville, GA, Karen M. Green (Larry) of Thomasville, GA, Teresa M. Stevenson (Jeff) of Acworth, GA; son, William A. Miller, Jr. (Penny), of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Charles A. Prince, Jr., Christy P. Cavanaugh, Melissa G. Morton, Kimberly G. Crapps, Ginny G. Hopper, Laren G. Carlton, Heather M. Stevenson, Brittany Stevenson, Thomas A. Davis, Jr., Ashley Davis, Misti Senn, Melanie Miller, Noah Johnson; great-grandchildren, Logan F. Prince, Griffin E. Prince, Riley M. Cavanagh, Lainey J. Roberts, Ty R. Roberts, Kendall L. Morton, Trace Morton, Major G. Morton, Brice Hopper, William “Will” Hopper, Jake Crapps, Parker Crapps, Charleigh Carlton, Collin Thrash, Colton Senn, Dixon Thrash, Teagin Davis, Ayla Davis, McKenna Morgan, Ryder Morgan; and a sister, Jean H. Gleitz (Dave) of Lynchburg, VA.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; a daughter, Cynthia Miller Davis; and a grandson, Taylor A. Davis.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Miller’s memory to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or Agape Care Group, 303 E. Shotwell Street, Bainbridge, GA 39819.

The family will receive friends at the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.
