Funeral services for Anne Tyus Parks, 92, of Cairo, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Long Branch Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Robbie Chaplin, Rev. Tim VanLandingham and Rev. Matt Peek will officiate. Services will conclude at the church. Private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mrs. Parks passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA, on Monday, May 26, 2025.
Active pallbearers will be Anne’s grandchildren.
Mrs. Parks was born on February 1, 1933, in Cairo, GA, to the late Lewis Guin Tyus and Luva Mae Miller Tyus. On August 23, 1953, she married Rev. William Lester Parks, who preceded her in death on March 31, 2000. They were married for over 46 years. She was a loving homemaker and a devoted member of Long Branch Baptist Church in Cairo.
Mrs. Parks spent her entire life fulfilling her spiritual gift of serving others. She was a committed pastor’s wife supporting pastoring ministries in 4 different churches. Her passion was evident in starting ESL (English as a Second Language) in Cairo, GA, over 50 years ago. She spent her life teaching Sunday School, playing the piano and organ, but most importantly being a prayer warrior every day for everyone and everywhere she went. Countless people have been impacted by her service, teaching and personal example.
Survivors include: sons, Alan Parks (Lisa) of Cairo, GA, Ron Parks (Cindy) of Athens, GA, Keith Parks (Judy) of Americus, GA; grandchildren, Chad Parks (Brittney), Courtney Ballard (Gary), Andrew (Katie), Ben Parks, Jordan Parks, Lauren Parks, Jonathan Parks, David Parks (Ansleigh), Jason Parks (Maggie); great-grandchildren, Ari Parks, Anna Parks, Asa Parks, Maryanna Parks, Connor Parks, Harvey Parks, Liam Parks, Bennett Parks, Noah Parks, Anna Lee Parks, Ally Ballard, MaKenna Ballard; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Parks; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Guin and Luva Mae Tyus; husband, W. Lester Parks; and brothers, Franklin Tyus (and wife, Margaret), Lewis Tyus (and wife, Brunell.)
