Andrew Rees Gayle
July 14, 1941 – October 20, 2025

Memorial services for Andrew Rees Gayle (Andy), 84, of Thomasville, GA, are (at a time to be announced) P.M., Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Thomasville, GA. Brother Richard Orr will officiate. Mr. Gayle passed away at his home on Monday, October 20, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Gayle was born on July 14, 1941, in Selma, AL, to the late Albert Darrington Gayle, Sr. and Helen McKinnon Gayle. He served his country in the United States Air Force.

On April 2, 1966, he married Leilani Warren Gayle, who preceded him in death on September 28, 2023. They were married for over 58 years. A special point in their lives came when Andy and his wife were baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Montgomery, AL in April of 1971. They spent the early part of their married life moving to different places, but finally settled down in the Grady-Thomas county area in 1982. They raised 2 boys, Rees and Scott. Andy loved being surrounded by his 2 boys, and later 3 grandsons, but his wife was his world. They spent many vacations either in the mountains or on the beach but always took the whole family. Those truly were the ‘golden years’. Until his retirement, he specialized in auto recovery.

Survivors include: his children, Rees Darrington Gayle II (Shelly) of Whigham, GA and Richard Scott Gayle of Thomasville, GA; grandchildren, Gregory Gayle of Whigham, GA, Jason Gayle of Lynnwood, WA, and Logan Gayle (Samaiya) of Whigham, GA; brother, Thomas Gill Gayle, III of Selma, AL; a nephew, Gill Gayle IV, and 2 nieces, Catherine Gayle Stephens and Mary Margaret Gayle

He was preceded in death by: his parents, his wife, and a brother, Albert D. Gayle, Jr.
